President Muhammadu Buhari )expressed his condolences on the passing of the distinguished mathematician and scientist Professor Aderemi Kuku by the family of the academic and administrator.In a message of condolence from his spokesman Femi Adesina on Tuesday, Buhari acknowledged that the late Kuku' s work would continue to demonstrate his diligence and talent.

So he joined academia in Nigeria and abroad in mourning the researcher and publisher, who became a full professor of mathematics in 1982 at the age of 41.

He acknowledged that the professor has been contributing to global knowledge, having served as president of the African Mathematical Union (AMU), member of the International Mathematical Union Development and Exchange Committee and president of the African Academy of Sciences.

Buhari noted that the late scholar' s drive and love of knowledge earned him many recognitions and awards.

He said the awards included NNOM (Nigerian National Order of Merit), Nigeria' s highest honor for academic excellence, OON (Nigerian Order Officer), Fellow of the American Mathematical Society, Fellow of the Nigerian Mathematical Society and Fellow of the World Academy of Sciences.

APC convention shaky, Buhari shuns govs, jets off to Belgium

The All Progressive Congress is about to postpone its national convention for the third time, PUNCH learned, as governors can' t agree on who should be the next president of the APC and the division of positions on the National Jobs Council.


It' s like the APC' s refusal to sell forms to aspirants vying for multiple positions in the party for the second day in a row.

About a half- dozen governors attempted to meet with President Mohammadu Buhari (retired) on Tuesday to discuss the planned APC convention.

BREAKING: Buhari arrives in Belgium for EU- AU summit

President Major General (retired) Muhammadu Buhari has arrived in Brussels, Belgium, where he will join other world leaders for the sixth EU- African Union summit.

The summit will take place on 17- 18 February 2022 and participants will discuss topics including financing for sustainable and inclusive growth; climate change and energy transition, digital and transport (connectivity and infrastructure); peace, security and governance; private sector support and economic integration.

The others are education, cultural and vocational training, migration and mobility; agriculture and sustainable development and health systems, and vaccine production.
