Over recent insulting remarks, the Department of State Services (DSS) has issued a severe warning to People's Democratic Party (PDP) leader Iyorchia Ayu.

The agency's spokesman, Dr. Peter Afunanya (PhD), issued the following statement to POLITICS NIGERIA on Monday: "The Department of State Services (DSS) has been alerted to baseless allegations made by the People's Democratic Party's (PDP) National Chairman, Dr Iyorchia Ayu, against security services, particularly the service."

Speaking at an event in Owerri, Imo State, on February 23, 2022, the party chairman was quoted as saying that his party would not use SSS to harass people when it took over Aso Rock in 2023. Although the service restricts itself from engaging in issues especially with politicians, it wishes to express its disapproval of such statements which are considered unreasonable, unfair, speculative and absurd. "

Apart from defaming and instigating people against it, the service questions the logic behind such an unjustified depiction of it by the Ayyu Sheikh, who has reaped so many benefits from it and the country.

He has held positions including Senate President, Education, Industry, Home Affairs and Environment Minister, with full security details, and he knows the service will never be used to harass people. If he' s ever used these details for a negative purpose (which the service doesn' t know about), he should know that times have changed. "

"Dr. Ayu understands that the service is the front line protector of democracy in Nigeria, and he respects the rule of law." It is dedicated to safeguarding the public. For the avoidance of doubt, it will not protect from disciplinary action those who violate its rules and the facto laws of the land, Therefore his statements are untrue.

"While the public is urged to reject Dr. Ayu's comments, the DSS has clearly made significant sacrifices for the nation's existence and unity, and will continue to do so despite purposeful attacks on it." lawmakers are urged to refrain from making remarks that could be construed as threatening to public order. In general, the service prefers to keep him out of any political squabbles while working to protect us."

DSS reprimands Ayu, statement by PDP National Chair

Dr Iyorchia Ayu, national chairman of the People' s Democratic Party, has been warned to stop defaming front line security agencies after claiming his party will not use State Service agents to harass the people after taking power in 2023.

Dr Ayu is optimistic that his party will beat the ruling APC in next year' s polls, he reportedly declared at a political event in Oweri that his party is the guardian of democratic values and will always respect the rights of the people, will not use security personnel to harass and intimidate innocent citizens when they take over from APC next year.

But Ayu' s groundless claims angered DSS authorities, who described the statement as an attempt to discredit him for providing him with security during his various tenures as Senate president and education, industry, interior and environment minister.
